Dior debuted its Fall/Winter '24/25 Ready to Wear collection at Paris Fashion Week. The event took place in a makeshift event space in the Tuileries gardens, which was beautifully decorated by Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni.
The collection showcased models walking down the runway in tan and black trench coats and blazers. One notable detail was the "MISS DIOR" emblazoned on the front of the garments. The overall aesthetic was understated and sophisticated, complemented by a sleek chignon hairstyle.
A pop of neon pink on the eyes added an unexpected touch of color. Dior Makeup Creative and Image Director Peter Phillips explained that the pink was chosen due to Maria Grazia's fondness for it, as seen in scarves created by Marc Bohan in the '70s or '80s. The pink pigment was applied to the inner corners of the eyes, resembling a delicate flower petal. This detail added a subtle and raw beauty to the overall look, reminiscent of imperfections found in nature.
Peter Phillips and his team used Dior skincare products to prepare the models' skin, including the Dior Capture Totale Le Sérum and Dior Capture Totale Hyalushot for hydration. The makeup look focused on achieving a natural and radiant complexion, with the use of a star filter as a primer, followed by foundation and concealer tailored to each model's skin tone.
The eyebrows were softly filled in using the Diorshow Brow Styler and OnSet Brow, while the eyelashes were curled. The pink pigment was then applied to the inner corners of the eyes using a brush, drawing attention to this area. To maintain the emphasis on the eyes, the lips were kept simple with a swipe of clear Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, ensuring a non-glossy finish.
For a more wearable everyday look, Phillips suggested adding mascara to enhance the eyes further. He humorously mentioned that adding brows and lashes would make women more approachable and attractive, jokingly stating that the catwalk look may get you a cover but not a date.
In conclusion, Dior's Fall/Winter '24/25 collection made a captivating start to Paris Fashion Week. The combination of refined and classic clothing pieces, coupled with the unexpected touch of pink on the eyes, created a visually striking and memorable runway display.
