The recently concluded Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2024 was a dynamic event that showcased incredible craftsmanship and design excellence. Fashion houses like Valentino, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, and Chloe presented their latest collections, each making bold moves that continue to shake up the industry.
Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino presented a collection that took inspiration from the natural state of the body, rather than provoking. The clothes evoked a sense of vitality and paid tribute to the artistic spirit of Villa Noailles in the south of France. Balenciaga, under the creative direction of Demna, focused on exaggerated silhouettes and craft, moving away from theatrics for a more refined yet dynamic collection.
Alexander McQueen bid farewell to former creative director Sarah Burton with their Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The show celebrated the female body with a variety of textiles, intricate stitching, and Burton's signature floral motifs. Chloe's final collection from Gabriela Hearst featured tailored suits, embellished pieces, and marigold gowns. Her departure marked a full-circle moment for the fashion house.
The fashion industry also witnessed some important appointments. Seán McGirr was appointed as the new head of ready-to-wear at Alexander McQueen, succeeding Sarah Burton. And Chemena Kamali replaced Gabriela Hearst as Chloe's new Creative Director.
