Women in Russia have been warned about the risks associated with a new beauty trend of face shaving. Aesthetician Leila Roz has urged women to avoid shaving their faces due to potential irritation and the growth of thicker and darker hair. According to Roz, when performing the procedure, one must be very gentle and careful with the blade. Afterwards, a soothing mask should be applied to the skin to prevent irritation. The aesthetician advises women to have the procedure done by a professional rather than attempting it at home.
"The procedure of removing unwanted facial hair is not a novelty in the world of aesthetics. Special cosmetic products are initially used to clean and prepare the skin for shaving. Then, products that reduce irritation and hair growth are applied to the skin. If the procedure is performed by a professional using high-quality cosmetic products, we do not see any side effects," said Roz.
Women in Russia have embraced the face shaving trend, but not everyone has been lucky. Individuals with dark and coarse hair on the upper lip or chin may not be suitable candidates for the procedure and may be advised by an aesthetician to see an endocrinologist instead.
During self-face shaving, one can damage the skin and introduce infections. It can also cause peeling, pain, and dryness. Instead of shaving, it is recommended that Russian women remove unwanted facial hair through waxing or laser hair removal, as these methods are more effective and safer.
