The judges have decided not to penalize Verstappen and Hamilton for their collision during the podium battle. Hamilton ultimately finished third, while Verstappen dropped to fifth position. Hamilton viewed the incident as a racing incident, while Verstappen accused his rival of changing his trajectory during braking.
"It was evident that car #1 (Verstappen) locked both front wheels when approaching the first turn before the contact, but deviated from the normal trajectory in the turn for a typical overtaking maneuver. The stewards do not consider this moment to be a typical case of 'changing trajectory during braking', although our conclusion is that the driver of car #44 (Hamilton) could have done more to avoid the collision. According to this, we rule that neither driver bears primary responsibility," the statement on the website reads.
