School is officially back in session because Abbott Elementary is here for its third season. The writers’ and actors’ strikes might have halted production last year, causing a delay in the show’s return, but filming finally began in November 2023 after both guilds were able to negotiate fair contracts.
Season 3 will be full of the usual classroom antics, but many fans are most excited to see what will happen between Janine and Gregory and their budding romance.
“I’m so excited to get into it. I think that Gregory has to figure out how he really feels about that information, knowing that, ‘OK, this person isn’t ready to be with me yet, isn’t ready to take the leap,’” the show’s star and creator, Quinta Brunson, told TV Line. “‘So do I take that leap with someone else? Do I wait for that person?’ And I think there’s probably going to be more conversations about it in the future. I think Janine, being the ‘I believe I can do anything’ person she is, will kind of be like, ‘OK, I’m gonna make myself ready. I don't feel ready yet, but I’m gonna make myself a good enough person to be in a relationship and be ready for this.’ And I think there’ll be some more miscommunication there.”
