On Monday night, Dior and Saks Fifth Avenue unveiled their highly anticipated Carousel of Dreams window collaboration, marking the start of the holiday season. The event was attended by celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel Zegler, and Alexandra Daddario, who gathered at Saks Fifth Avenue's The Vault for pre-show drinks and small bites.
The guests were then taken across the street to witness the illumination of the Dior display for the first time. To keep warm, stars like Ashley Park, Maya Hawke, and Nina Dobrev were provided with navy blankets by Dior and Saks. Tracee Ellis Ross sat alongside Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior's women's creative director.
Delphine Arnault, the CEO of Christian Dior Couture, addressed the crowd, highlighting the theme of the takeover and the immense effort put into creating the store facade and 24 windows. The windows feature miniature replicas of New York landmarks infused with Dior elements. Arnault expressed her excitement for the unique display, describing it as a tribute to the dreams and magic of the holiday season.
Following Arnault's remarks, Jennifer Lawrence, a house ambassador for Dior, spoke to the crowd. Despite a minor wardrobe malfunction, Lawrence gracefully continued her speech and expressed her gratitude for being part of the Dior family. The facade then began to illuminate, and the street in front of Saks was closed to allow the Martha Graham Dance Company to perform in front of the mesmerizing astrological- and nature-themed window display. The navy costumes for the performance were designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The grand finale of the evening was a three-and-a-half minute light show that showcased the intricate details of the facade. A synchronized fireworks display added to the enchanting atmosphere. The event was hailed as one of the most beautiful window displays in Saks Fifth Avenue's history, showcasing the evolution of technology and artistry since their first light show in 2004.
After the show, guests gathered at Saks' L'Avenue restaurant for cocktails and more refreshments, enjoying the festive ambiance. Celebrities mingled, posed in front of Dior's step and repeat, and reveled in what will surely be remembered as one of the most unforgettable events of the 2023 holiday season.
