The brief but glamorous romance between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed has captivated the public for over 25 years. However, what most people don't know is that their relationship was not as straightforward as it seemed. A third party was involved.
While Dodi was making headlines with Diana, Kelly Fisher, a model from Kentucky, found herself entangled in a complicated situation. Fisher, portrayed by Erin Richards in the show 'The Crown', revealed that she and Dodi were engaged, living in a newly-purchased home in Malibu, and planning their wedding for August 1997. However, everything changed when Dodi met Diana.
During the summer of 1997, when Fisher and Dodi were in Paris, Dodi's father asked him to join Diana and her sons on the Fayed family yacht. Fisher was left wondering about their relationship, while Dodi spent time with Diana. Later, Dodi asked Fisher to fly to St. Tropez to join him on a second Fayed yacht, while he moved back and forth between the two boats. This sequence of events is depicted in the beginning of 'The Crown' season 6, part 1.
Their secret affair came to light when a photo of Dodi and Diana kissing was published by the Sunday Mirror on August 10. In response, Fisher, represented by lawyer Gloria Allred, filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Dodi. Allred announced the lawsuit in a press conference in Los Angeles, expressing Fisher's desire for Diana to be aware of her experiences with Dodi and make informed decisions for her future and that of her children.
Fisher claimed that Dodi had given her a valuable ring and had offered her a substantial amount of money to leave her work and be with him. However, Dodi failed to honor his promises, leading Fisher to take legal action. Sadly, following Dodi's tragic death, Fisher dropped the lawsuit, forgiving him for his past wrongdoings in light of the enormous tragedy that had occurred.
Afterwards, Fisher moved on with her life. According to People magazine, she later married pilot Mikhail Movshina, whom she met in 2007. They lived in various locations, including Paris and the Swiss Alps, before settling in Aiken, South Carolina. They had a daughter in 2011.
