One of Netflix’s most beloved and acclaimed series, The Crown, is coming to an end. The final season, Season 6 Part 2, will conclude the story of Queen Elizabeth before her death in 2022. However, instead of covering recent events, the show will leave off in the 2000s, focusing on the era represented by the romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The first four episodes of The Crown Season 6 were released on November 16 at 3 a.m. EST. The remaining six episodes, episodes 5-10, will be available on December 14, also at 3 a.m. EST. This timing is perfect for holiday binge-watching.
The final season will consist of 10 episodes in total, with the last six episodes releasing in December.
The first part of Season 6 focused on the tragic romance between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed and the car crash that led to their deaths and a major upheaval within the monarchy. Part 2 will shift its focus to Prince Charles and Camilla's marriage, Prince William's time at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and his growing relationship with Kate Middleton, the future queen. It is also expected to cover the deaths of Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother.
Creator Peter Morgan had initially planned for The Crown to end after five seasons and to avoid covering present-day events such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's marriage and estrangement. However, after discussions, the decision was made to extend the series to six seasons in order to delve into the story in greater detail. Season 6 will not bring the storyline closer to the present day.
All episodes of The Crown are available for streaming on Netflix. Subscription plans start at $6.99 per month.
